Rip Trevor bolder

Want to know what the former members of WA are up to since exiting the band? No postings pertaining to MT or Martin Turner's Band are allowed here. Mart has his own website, "wishboneash.co.uk" if you need to know what he's up to these days.

Sad news indeed. Last time I saw him on stage was about 3 years ago at the Olympia in Paris with Uriah Heep, but I also remember a Wishbone Ash concert in Royan, think it was in July 1983. I had a backstage access and could meet the band after the show, did some short interviews for a local radio with AP, LW, SU and Trevor Bolder. I will keep the memory of a welcoming and smiling guy, even after a 2 hour gig in the heat. And great bass player, of course. He will be missed.
Why play air guitar when you can play a real one ?

very sad to hear this - i knew he was out of the band (Heep) but he was expected to return once back to health.

i suppose being honest he will be more remembered for his work with Heep and Bowie, and his stint with WA was fairly short. However there is a great bootleg called Playin' Free from Hammersmith 1981 which i will give myself a blast of tonight. A very different kind of bass player to MT but he "made it his own" as they say these days!

cheers Trev

So sad to hear this . Never heard him play live as he joined the band during my lost years of following and listening to the band . Suffice to say his memory will live on with his music both for Wishbone Ash, Uriah Heep and Bowie . RIP

Shocked to hear the news, although he was only in Wishbone Ash for a relatively short period I loved his contribution.

...and this news REALLY hit me very hard. I feared he would loose his fight against cancer, but I hoped he would win it. Trevor Bolder was one of my top three favourite bass players of all times. Now Geddy Lee and Bob Skeat are the two remaining.
I have loved his stint with WA and he was a Bowie hero, but of course he is most loved for his place in Uriah Heep, where he leaves an empty place that with all respect will not be filled. Wonderful performer, he pushed the band live, great singer - wonderful charisma.

Trevor, I will always miss you. Should have gone to see Heep in October 2012.

Rest in peace, the big band "up there" has been joined by one hell of a bass player. Too early, we would have loved to keep him down here for quite some more years. All the best to his family, his friends and his band.

My favourite Heep song written by Trevor is Dream On of the 1995 album Sea Of Light. One of the songs a traveling musician writes about leaving his family at home, the chorus now does make some other sense as well:

"So dream on, dream on
Freedom comes with timeless sleep
Dream on, dream on
In the arms of night
Your silent shadow gently speaks
Dream on, dream on"

Nice write up in the obituary section of the Times newspaper today, with a mention of his stint in Wishbone Ash amongst his other achievements, very sad.

Deeply saddened to read this whilst abroad. Had met TB in Willerby once more recently, and though I missed 'his' Ash time by being abroad I've several memories of him as a Spider especially @ Sheffield City Hall in Spring & Summer 72 - he made time to chat to an excited young fan from Hull. i recall The Rats played our sixth form leavers dance (from which lower sixth were excluded; bah!) but not sure he had the sideburns yet! No doubt he'll be searching out Ronno for a good chinwag. RIP
