Great musican who played on some iconic albums. Andy had mentioned he was ill in his blog last week. A very sad loss.

Just got an email from AP about Trevor Bolder...very sad news. I remember him playing with WA in NYC back in '81. And, who can forget his time with Bowie- iconic stuff.

RIP, sir and thanks.

Trevor, part of the story and a Spider from Mars forever. Lovely tribute from Andy on Facebook. Gutted. Rest well, man. x

Found this bit of trivia about him:

While on tour with the Cybernauts he painted his face blue, but then found out the paint was semi permanent and would not come off. Bolder had to sell his car to raise the money needed for a specialist skin peeling process at a Swiss clinic. Up until his death, he still had traces of blue paint behind his left ear.

Very sad news, but it brings me back to some great memories.
The first time I saw Trevor Bolder playing with Wishbone Ash, it was during a magnificent show in Paris, at Le Palais des Sports in 1981. "Number the Brave" tour.
A sold out concert with 8000 people completely blown away by the band.
I was at the front row, hung on to the stage monitor. Time to time I was looking under the Claire Hamill's very short skirt, I must confess, but still very impressed by the music... Andy and Laurie walked up the stairs to play some solos, on each side of the drums and Mr Bolder was pushing the machine in a rock&funk way... Something new and refreshing at that time.
The too short "Live at The Marquee" is a nice testimony from this era...
RIP Mr Bolder.

Massively sad news about Trevor Bolder: saw him playing for the Ash at Colston Hall, Bristol in '81 on NTB tour & Nottingham in '83 on TTB tour. Felt he was a very different player from MT & presented an interesting development in sound. He was also obviously a top guy on stage: fantastic player & very much a group man with little apparent ego. Interestingly he wrote a while ago about what a stimulating and challenging musical experience it had been playing with Wishbone Ash, stil marvelling at the complexity and imagination of warm-up jams! RIP: you leave a fatastic legacy to a myriad of rock fans all around the world.
