Muddy with Melanie Denard

Postby dayglo on Wed Oct 10, 2018 8:47 am

forum very quiet lately but I will post this anyway!

Muddy has been doing a few different things the last year or so, and this week he is playing in a duo with a girl called Melanie Denard who is over here from Atlanta Georgia.

I saw them last night supporting the Stevie Nimmo Trio and they did about 50 mins - bluesy sort of stuff which went down very well with the packed house. Melanie plays in a female Bad Co tribute band back home (Madam Company) and they did a couple of Free tracks, Muddy Water (what else!) and Fire & Water which were superb.

I tend not to like shrieky female blues singers but this one was good. When she said she was going to sing "Georgia" i nearly left the room, fearing a Glenn Hughes attempt circa 1976 but she showed that you can sing with power without shrieking.

Unfortunately, unless you are in the Essex/Suffolk area in the next few days (and not at Ashcon) then you are going to miss these guys, but check them out when they return.

I did not speak to Muddy as he is a quiet guy and so am I (!) but I reckon he is better suited to this sort of stuff than he was to Wishbone Ash.

Thanks for the update on Muddy. He seems to have a lot of irons in the fire at the moment.
