Giants of Rock weekend 29th Jan - !st Feb

Along with my friend Foxy I attended the above weekend get together in Minehead Somerset featuring the following bands and artists Mostly Autumn, Snakecharmer ,Del Bromham ( Stray ) Steve Harley and Cockney rebel ,Russ Ballard , Deborah Bonham ( sister of John ) ,Nazareth and the Michael Schenker Temple of Rock ,Procol Harlem,Ian Hunter ,Stray as well as Wishbone Ash .
The event was attended by 4000 fans of Rock crammed into two main stages starting at 2.30 pm through to 11.30 pm for the last show .Over the three days and evenings the event ran generally to schedule despite only half hour changeovers between sets.
There were many great performances but of course Wishbone Ash stole the show for me Saturday night 30th Jan at 11.30 pm despite a technical hitch prior to set start ( no fault of the band - where was Daniel when needed ) .
Set List
Deep Blues
Blowin Free
The King will Come
Warrior
Throw Down the Sword
Heavy Weather
Living Proof
Open Road
Jailbait listed but not played due ti time constraints and technical hitch at start I presume

The band and this set list just rocked for me and left the stage to a rousing ovation capping in my opinion the applause for Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel who were on the stage prior .

The bonus for me over the weekend was seeing Del Bromham with a fantastic one man show who I will be looking out for in the future as well as Deborah Bonham ( what a talented family she comes from ) and of course Michael Schenker with his ensemble of various V's and ability to play them so easily .

All in All a fantastic weekend of Rock and Roll .Thank you Andy,Muddy,Bob and Joe for making it so special. :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

So agree it was a fantastic weekend with WA being the stand out also for us. Conversation overheard at the bar " bloody brilliant that was - best band so far. Don't know who the drummer is but he could teach the others a thing or two" Introduced myself and told them who he was = 2 new fans.
Went to this event not knowing what to expect but was pleasently surprised. Loved being able to move around the performances, if we did not like what we were hearing, we just moved on. Thought the Introducing stage was a billiant idea, heard some great new bands.

Stand out bands for us were:
Wishbone Ash
Snakecharmer
Nazareth
Big Country
Stray
Felt sorry that the guys had sound problems but being the professionals that they are - they got on with it and really had the crowd behind them. They should have been allowed to do the encore and the crowd was shouting for it.
Nazareth had similar problems with the sound and took far longer to get themselves going and were really not happy about it.
